WOMEN'S CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP MOVED TO OCT. 3-13

The U.S. Women's Chess Championship will be held Oct. 3 to Oct. 13 at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. That is a change from the previous announced dates of Oct. 2-12.

The championship will feature 10 of the top women players in the United States, including defending champion and two-time winner Anna Zatonskih of Long Island, N.Y., and two-time champion Irina Krush of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The nine-round tournament will determine the top woman player in the U.S. Chess Federation. The players are vying for $64,000 in prize money, with $15,000 going to the winner.

Founded by retired investment fund manager Rex Sinquefield, the Chess Club Scholastic Center opened in July 2008. It already has more than 900 members. For more information on the club or the U.S. Women's Chess Championship, please visit www.saintlouischessclub.org or call 314-361-CHESS.
