Scholastic Tournament Blog: 2018 Dog Day Duels

By Tony Chen, Scholastic Coordinator

After spending a summer full of sun, fun, and naps, the competitive spirit of chess players remains high. During the scorching heat at summer’s end and back-to-school excitement, 150 dedicated chess players clashed on August 26 at John Burroughs High School to determine the top dog and earn a strong start to the school year. Along with individual accolades, this tournament also included the first team competition for the new school year. The top individual and team winners are posted below.  In the 2018-2019 school year, we look forward to introducing new tournament rules and the new Grand Prix season.

The Saint Louis Chess Club would like to thank all the players, parents, coaches, and community partners that make our monthly tournaments a success. Please join us next month for our September tournament, Back To School Bash, on Saturday, September 22 at Gateway Middle School.
