Tournament Format

The American Cup Blitz is a 9-round Swiss System tournament played at a time control of G/3+2. Rounds are paired according to the FIDE Swiss System with standard scoring (1 – ½ – 0). The higher of a player’s classical FIDE rating or blitz FIDE rating is used for pairings and prizes. A strict “no draw” rule is in effect — no player may offer or accept a draw. There are no playoffs for tied places; all prize money earned by tied players is split equally.
