Biography

Jan-Krzysztof Duda is a former prodigy and the highest rated Polish player of all-time, achieving a peak rating of 2760 in 2021. He won the FIDE World Cup (2021), defeating Magnus Carlsen in the semifinals in order to qualify for the 2022 FIDE Candidates. Duda is a previous World Youth Champion (2008 U10) and European Youth Champion (2012 U14), and has represented Poland in multiple Olympiads and other team events. Duda won the Superbet Rapid & Blitz (2022) with a clear four-point margin ahead of the rest of the field; a historic and unprecedented result and one of the greatest ever seen in a Grand Chess Tour event. More recently Duda has been playing in online chess events; during the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships in 2024, Duda won the World Rapid Team Championship as part of the WR Chess Team on board three.
