Tony-Nominee Ann Hampton Callaway to Help Kick-off the 2009 U.S. Women's Chess Championship

Singer, songwriter and Tony-nominee, Ann Hampton Callaway will perform at a kick-off concert for the 2009 U.S. Women's Chess Championship, Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, 3750 Washington Boulevard in Grand Center. The kick off event entitled, "Queens of Jazz" will include special guest, Denise Thimes. Tickets are $50.00 for General Admission and $100.00 for VIP tickets. VIP tickets include a pre-concert reception with Denise Thimes and a post concert off-site dessert reception with Ann Hampton Callaway. Tickets can be obtained by calling 314-678-0500.
Ann Hampton Callaway is a proven performer in Broadway, cabaret and pop. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical, "Swing!" and for writing and singing the theme to the hit TV show, "The Nanny". Callaway is a Platinum Award winning writer whose songs are featured on five of Barbra Streisand's recent CDs. She is the only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter and has written songs with Carol King and Barbara Carroll to name a few.
For the Robert DeNiro feature film, "The Good Shepherd", Ann played opposite Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon when she performed, "Come Rain or Come Shine". She recorded "Isn't it Romantic?" and "The Nearness of You" in Wayne Wong's "Last Holiday", starring Queen Latifah. Ann is currently writing songs for the upcoming movie musical, "State of Affairs" to be directed by Philip McKinley.
