Chouchanik, or Chouchan as she prefers to be called, Airapetian has played in six U.S. Women’s Championships since arriving in the United States. Unlike some of the other players in this competition, Chouchan has not taken a break from the game and competes regularly as witnessed by winning the Washington State Women’s Championship five times (2015, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023).
As much as Chouchan loves to play, the native of Armenia contributes to the game in other ways as well. She has been a member of the Washington Chess Federation Board since 2012 and is the CEO and President of her company My Chess World, which teaches the game to kids all over the greater Seattle area.
Chouchan holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science, Technology, and Society (STS) with a Minor in Education from the University of Washington. Additionally, she has earned a Chess in Education Certificate from the University of Texas, Dallas and the prestigious title of Master of Chess from the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture in Yerevan, Armenia.
