Alice is one of the great young talents of American chess. The number 43 rated woman in the world and the fourth rated female under 21, Alice, along with teammates Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova, Carissa Yip, Irina Krush and Anna Zatonskih, helped the U.S. women to the bronze medals at the Budapest Olympiad in 2024. This was only the third time American women have won a team medal (2004 and 2008 were the other). To make it even more of a success Alice and Carissa both won individual board medals.
Like Carissa, Alice has hit a plateau around 2400 FIDE, having been rated around 2390 – 2410 the past three years. She has shown signs of making a breakthrough with her Olympiad performance and an outstanding result at the Cairns Cup where she nearly made a Grandmaster norm in finishing second.
Will 2026 be the year Alice reaches 2450 for the first time? The American Cup could be the start as she finished second place in 2022 and 2023 and won the event the past two years.
