The Winter Chess Classic is an annual chess tournament that brings together top-tier players for a thrilling competition. Hosted at Saint Louis University and organized by the Saint Louis Chess Club, the Classic series is renowned for showcasing exceptional talent and providing a platform for elite players to demonstrate their skills. The event attracts attention from a global audience eager to witness the intellectual spectacle that unfolds on the 64 squares. This year features an exciting new format and will bring together some of the world’s finest chess minds for a riveting competition across classical, rapid, and blitz formats.

Format

The Winter Chess Classic is not just a chess tournament; it’s a celebration of intellect. Two six-player teams will compete December 16 – 20, 2023 in an all-play-all Scheveningen format. Each player from one team will square off against each member of the opposing team in classical, rapid & blitz chess.

Venue

Hosted in the iconic chess room of Saint Louis University Morrissey Hall, the stage is set for an atmosphere charged with intensity and excitement.
