K-12 Scholastic Chess Tournaments

The Saint Louis Chess Club hosts a series of Grand Prix Tournaments for students during each school year. From October through April, students play for individual and team trophies during monthly Swiss-system tournaments. Over the course of seven chess tournaments, players and teams compete for season prizes and trophies.

Each chess event offers three sections for ages K-12 and all skill levels:
  • Introductory Quads
  • K-6 Open
  • K-12 Open
Free US Chess membership for all new to tournaments.
Ten-dollar entry for each event. Free entry for students of St Louis Public Schools, Ferguson-Florissant School District, Jennings Schools, and East St. Louis Schools.

Photos may be taken at these tournaments by a STLCC photographer and used for marketing purposes.

Grand Prix Award Ceremony

The Scholastic Grand Prix Award Ceremony will be held in May 2025

  • Trophy Awardees will be notified via email by the end of April
  • Food and soft drinks will be provided
