Donations made to the City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $150,000)—potentially doubling the impact to help families and communities recover and rebuild, creating a total impact of up to $300,000. This campaign is a direct response to support immediate needs and long-term recovery after the tornadoes that destroyed parts of the City of Saint Louis and surrounding areas. As proud institutions rooted in Saint Louis and champions of resilience, the STLCC, WCHOF and GCT call on the global chess community to unite and help restore what was lost. The recent devastation has displaced many schools and important neighborhood programs and initiatives, highlighting the critical need to rally and rebuild to benefit youth and families. “We are proud to stand with our community in this time of need. Saint Louis and the Central West End have long been home to chess enthusiasts worldwide, and we know the power of coming together to overcome challenges,” said Rex Sinquefield and Dr. Jeanne Cairns Sinquefield, co-founders of the Saint Louis Chess Club. “We hope to inspire chess fans everywhere to support the families and neighborhoods impacted by these devastating tornadoes. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.” How to Help We invite everyone—from local city supporters to chess fans worldwide—to stand with Saint Louis. Every dollar donated will be matched (up to $150,000), creating a total impact of up to $300,000 to provide immediate relief, such as food, shelter and long-term rebuilding of areas for those affected by the tornadoes. Click HERE to make a matched donation today and write Chess in the special instructions box. We encourage other local organizations and institutions to launch matching donation campaigns.
