Nino Batsiashvili

Nino Batsiashvili is a Georgian Grandmaster and four-time Georgian Women’s Champion in the years 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2022. She is currently the second highest-rated Georgian woman as well as the 18th highest-rated woman in the world. Batsiashvili has earned a number of medals as a representative of Georgia, winning team gold in the Women’s World Team Championship in 2015, as well as an individual bronze in the same event. More recently, Batsiashvili won an individual gold medal for her performance in the Chennai Olympiad in 2022. Other notable successes include drawing against then World Champion Magnus Carlsen during the Qatar Masters Open in 2015, as well as a second place finish in the 2015 Women’s European Individual Chess Championship. 2025 will be Batsiashvili’s first appearance at the Cairns Cup.
