Olga Sagalchik

Olga is native of Belarus and won the women’s championship of her homeland in 1991. Not long after, she moved to the United States and became a frequent participant in U.S. Women’s Championships playing in 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Her best result was a tie for third in 1999 with a score of 5 ½ – 3 ½.

Like several of her contemporaries, Olga was lured back to the tournament arena by the introduction of senior events for women. She played on all three medal winning U.S. teams competing in the World Senior Team Championship from 2024 to 2026.

Besides teaching chess, Olga is a math instructor in the Special Education Department at River Dell High School in northern New Jersey.

Olga is married to Grandmaster Gennady Sagalchik.
