Biography

Sharvesh Deviprasath is one of four Texans competing in the event along with Andy Woodward, Ryo Chen and Justin Wang. Like Woodward he grew up in the Dallas suburbs, a hotbed of scholastic chess in the United States. Unlike most of the other competitors in the field Sharvesh, who just completed his freshman year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has not competed in this event before. However, he is not without success at the national level having tied for first in both the National High School Championship in 2023 and the Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions in 2024. He has tutored 5-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and chess lover Amari Cooper.
