About Me
I first started playing chess in China from 2003 to 2008, and after moving to the U.S., my first-ever rating was 1804. My curiosity for climbing the title ladder in chess took me to National Master in the summer of 2013 after almost taking clear 2nd in World Open U2200. I achieved my first IM norm in Spring 2017 and completed all the necessary requirements to become an International Master in Spring 2022.
Specialties
Openings, as well as understanding moves.
Good Student Match
Focused and Open-minded.
Playing Experience
I have been playing chess competitions of all kinds since 2005. Some of my most notable accomplishments include NC State Scholastic Champion in 2015, shared 2nd at 2015 Denker Championship, 3x NC State Champion (2015,2016,2021) and CCCSA Club Champion in 2019.
Teaching Method
As I believe it is important for both the student and the instructor to have meaningful inputs, I will usually start by reviewing the results of my student’s own training efforts between meetings. Then we will move on to working on different parts of the game, depending on the unique priority list of each respective student.
