Biography

Bibisara Assaubayeva is a Kazakhstani International Master and two-time consecutive Women’s World Blitz Champion. Assaubayeva is the highest-rated female player in Kazakhstan, and is currently the 12th highest rated woman in the world. A chess prodigy, Assaubayeva earned her Woman FIDE Master title at age 7 after winning the World Youth Championship in Brazil in 2011. She went on to win several youth tournaments, including the World Cadets Championship in the Girls U12 in 2016 as well as the Girls U14 in 2017. Additionally in 2017 Assaubayeva earned an International Master norm after competing in the European Individual Championship in Belarus. More recently in 2021, Assaubayeva finished second in the Women’s World Rapid Championship. Two days after that event, Assaubayeva won the Women’s World Blitz Championship with a score of 14/17 after winning thirteen games, she then successfully defended her title in 2022. 2025 will be Assaubayeva’s first appearance at the Cairns Cup.
