The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis is kicking off 2015 with brand new programming for our weekly classes and lectures! This freshly designed content has been tailored to fit all types of chess players -- from kids to adults, beginners to competitors -- and nearly all classes are taught by our Resident Grandmaster, keeping instruction fresh with a rotation of the nation’s premier chess players. And best of all: Our programming is FREE to all members!
New in 2015
BEGINNERS: Every chess newbie will enjoy Thursday's Beginner Chess for Adults, introducing the rules and basic strategies of chess at an adult's pace, as well as Tuesday's Tournament Beginner Breakdown, designed to polish up newer players who are ready to take that first step toward competitive play.
COMPETITIVE PLAYERS: Check in on Tuesdays for Endgames for Tournament Players, studying one of the most-important phases of tournament chess, as well as Thursday's Learn from the Legends, which dives into the games of chess' greatest players to reveal fundamental building blocks in today's game of kings.
KIDS: Our Sunday kids classes are booming, and even more programming has been added to accommodate all of our rising masters! TWO levels of kids classes, beginner and Kids Chess for Rookies, are offered every Sunday at 1:00 p.m., and new in 2015 is a class specifically for young competitors: Kids Chess for Knights at 2:00 p.m.
Also new on Sunday is the specialized Chess for Parents, helping to keep moms and dads one step ahead in the game!
