The GCT is proud to announce five events for the 2022 tour, including a new event in Warsaw, Poland. Players will compete throughout the season for $1.275 million in prizes.
“When we created the Grand Chess Tour, we promised it would be unlike anything else, that we would continue to grow and expand, and to show chess in the way it’s meant to be played,” said legendary 13th World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov, the driving force behind the Grand Chess Tour. “2022 promises to be another great year on the tour for players and fans alike.”
The tour will once again consist of two classical and three rapid & blitz events between May and September. The 2022 season will kick off in Bucharest, Romania with the Superbet Chess Classic. Players will continue to battle it out across Europe before heading west to Saint Louis, USA for the second classical event, the Sinquefield Cup.

Paris Grand Chess Tour Rapid & Blitz: May 17-24, Paris, France
Super United Croatia Grand Chess Tour Rapid & Blitz: July 19-26, Zagreb, Croatia
Superbet Warsaw Rapid & Blitz: August 24-30, Warsaw, Poland
Sinquefield Cup: September 1-15, Saint Louis, USA
