A great chess spectacle will take place Saturday, April 2. At the Flo Valley (SLCC) Campus (http://www.stlcc.edu/fv/) from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., several chess events will take place.
1) An unrated tournament for new players
2) A USCF-rated event
3) A simultaneous exhibition (20 boards) with World #8 Hikaru Nakamura
4) A blindfold simultaneous with yours truly (5 boards)
All of the above events are part of a fundraiser for the Clubs of Flo Valley. More info can be found at:
http://www.saintlouischessclub.org/chess-festival-flo-valley
Pre-registration, especially for the Simultaneous Exhibitions, is highly recommended.
I have played blindfold simultaneous exhibitions before, but will be challenged with 5 games at once. Try your luck at beating a GM Saturday (you get your choice, Hikaru or me!).
The CCSCSL will be out in force, providing directors, the GMs, and other booths for lessons, equipment sales, and anything and everything else chess! We hope to support our local community colleges and get a lot of new players, especially students, interested in chess.
