Round 7 was packed with action as GM Levon Aronian and GM Viswanathan Anand pulled ahead of their opponents to land in first place along with GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Viswanathan Anand, and GM Levon Aronian came into the 8th round in the top spot for first and ended Round 8 still in the top spot for first place. The only decisive game was GM Sergey Karjakin who was victorious over GM Wesley So in their game.
