After spending a summer full of sun, fun, and naps, the competitive spirit of chess players remains high. During the scorching heat at summer’s end and back-to-school excitement, 150 dedicated chess players clashed on August 26 at John Burroughs High School to determine the top dog and earn a strong start to the school year.

People are coming from all over to watch the Sinquefield Cup and root for their favorite Players. Two such Fans make their predictions on the game between Fabiano Caruana and Magnus Carlsen.
Everyone was looking forward to Round 7, the round Fabiano Caruana and Magnus Carlsen would be facing each other across the board. The excitement grew as the players moved their pieces across the board. The much anticipated match ended in a draw and Fabiano Caruana staying on top in first place position.
Coming into Round 6 there were 5 players in First Place. By the end of Round 6 GM Fabiano Caruana pulled ahead to become the sole person in first place.
