SAINT LOUIS, March 29, 2012 -- The 2012 U.S. Junior Closed Championship will be held at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis July 6-20 this year. 

This marks the third consecutive year this prestigious event will be held in Saint Louis.

Isaiah Gadson Wins State Championship

Pattonville High School junior Isaiah Gadson took first place at the Missouri State Scholastic Championship Chess Tournament on March 10 in Jefferson City. He scored a huge upset victory over NM Kevin Cao in the final round to secure the title. Isaiah edged out Parkway West student and CCSCSL club member William Tong on tiebreaks.

February Knights Recap, March Knights Underway

A total of 18 players came out to play in the five-round February Knights. Ken West got on the board early with a draw against the No. 4 seed, James Spalding, rated 1735. He took that momentum into the following week scoring a 173-point upset victory over Knights regular, Neil Schechter, rated 1400.
